Bandipora, Apr 28 (KNO): The residents of Bandipora health block have heaved a sigh of relief after no new Covid-19 positive cases were reported from the block for third consecutive day. Though Bandipora district has the highest number of positive cases in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, however, the residents of Bandipora health block have a bit of reprieve as no new case was reported from the block for third consecutive day. Bandipora district has a total of three health blocks viz Bandipora, Hajin and Gurez. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the worst affected village in Bandipora block is Gund-Qaiser which has witnessed at least 27 Covid-19 cases over the past few weeks. First Covid-19 case in the village was reported on April 04. He was a Tableeg-i-Jamaat member, however, the patient has now recovered and has been discharged from the hospital after treatment. Since April 04, when first case was reported from the village, the number of cases has gone up to 27 now and they all belong to a single community, most of them family members and relatives of first Covid-19 case from the village. After Gund-Jahengeer village of Hajin Tehsil, Gund-Qaiser which falls within Bandipora health block is at the second spot in terms of highest number of positive cases in the district. However, from last three days no new cases were reported from this village nor from any other village of Bandipora health block and residents have heaved a sigh of relief. The last two cases were reported from the village on April 25 and on the same day entire Kumar Mohalla of Gund-Qaiser village, from where positive cases have been reported was emptied and all the families living there were put under quarantine. An official said that as the number of cases was increasing with each passing day in the village, administration decided put the entire Mohalla under quarantine in order to prevent further spread of this deadly virus. He said that around 30 families of Kumar Mohalla have been put under quarantine from the particular Mohalla as all the positive cases were reported from there only. He also said that their samples have been collected for testing and most of them have been reported negative from last three days but reports of few samples are still awaited and we hope they also turn negative. “It will be a huge relief for all of us.” Meanwhile, 37 samples collected from Gund-Qaiser village were reported negative on Tuesday. After Gund-Qaiser village in Bandipora health block, Gund-Dachina village has recorded highest number of cases in the block. The number of cases in Gund-Dachina stands at 6. One each case has been recorded from Quil-Muqam, Tanghat, Kehnusa, Garoora and Kunan and two cases from Pethkoot village of Bandipora block. Kehnusa was the first village to have reported first Covid-19 positive case from the district, however, the patient has now been cured and discharged from the hospital after treatment. Two covid-19 patients from Kunan and Pethkoot have also been cured and discharged from the hospital.
